Duty Stations:

MALS-16 - MCAS / MALD-36 - MCAS Futenma

Area of Service:

Tustin, CA , Okinawa, Japan

Why did you join the military:

I come from a long line of military in my family.  I have had family members involved in the military that goes back to WWI.  I always wanted to do the patriotic duty to serve my country.

Why Did You Choose your Branch of Service:

I wanted to join the Marine Corps for as long as I can remember.  My step-father, uncle, 3rd cousin, and great-uncle were all Marines.  I desired to be in the most elite service and accomplish something that seemed difficult.  As a kid, the commercials always talked about, "The Few, The Proud", and that's what I wanted to be.

After Your Service:

When I left the service I started working for Evergreen Air Center in Pinal as a Aircraft Mechanic and Maintainer.  I was eventually laid off due to no contracts.  I then had a string of odd jobs (carpet cleaner, housing construction, parts runner) before I was hired as an assembly line technician at Raytheon in 2000.  Once there, I was able to prove my knowledge and expertise in aircraft integration, test, and analysis.  I am currently a Technical Integration Engineer and I have been there 22 years.

Why did You Join CVMA:

I joined CVMA-OPC 32-2 in January of 2020.

I wanted to find a group of like minded individuals to associate myself with.  I missed the camaraderie of the military and the need to ride motorcycles.  I felt a need to volunteer my time to helping veterans in my community since I never deployed during my enlistment.  I gives me an opportunity to give back to those that have sacrificed for our country's freedom.  To be a part of something bigger, donate my time and efforts, and to give back.

Hobbies:

I enjoy riding motorcycles, hunting, reading, building stuff, and remodeling the house.

Other VSO's:

I am a member of the American Legion and the Marine Corps Association.

Special Skills:

I have an overabundance of useless information and trivia.
