Rank: E-6

Duty Stations:

USS Cape Cod AD-43, USS Fort McHenry LSD-43, S.I.M.A SD, USS Benfold DDG-65 (Plankowner), FTC SanDiego

Area of Service:

Persian Gulf

Prior To Service:

Grew up on Cattle Ranch in central California, worked dead end jobs for $4.25/hr and wanted something more, tried to go Coast Guard and talked to the Marines but ultimately signed on with the Navy, after a quick negotiation spent a total of 11 days in DEP prior to departure for Boot Camp.

Why Did You Choose your Branch of Service:

Dunno, maybe because he was in the office that day, and maybe because he offered me the job skills that sounded good to me at the time.  I don’t remember a lot of thought process being involved, I just wanted out…

After Your Service:

I work for a medical imaging company installing and maintaining X-ray, CT, Cardio-Vascular and Ultrasound equipment in area hospitals.

Why did You Join CVMA:

I was involved in the VFW, several of my friends were CVMA and I was drawn to the activities besides “just sitting at the bar” that CVMA was doing in the community.  Something that the VFW lacked in my opinion, and I wanted to be a part of that “something bigger” thing that was so prevalent in military service.

Hobbies:

Motorcycles?
I’m into rock crawling in jeeps and offroad racing, I even competed for several years in the Dirt Riot series winning 2 National titles in the Unlimited Sportsman category.
I draw, paint, though I haven’t done anything substantial in years
As a form of meditation I weave and braid para-cord

Other VSO's:

Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars
Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans
